Mesothelioma Awareness Proclamation

Written by on October 1, 2015 in Asbestos, Mesothelioma

Harvit & Schwartz, L.C., attorney, Bill Schwartz was proud to accept a proclamation issued by Charleston, WV, Mayor, Danny Jones,  announcing Mesothelioma Awareness Day as Saturday, September 26, 2015. The proclamation states that “heavy use of asbestos in manufacturing industry and construction has been recognized as the worst occupational disaster in U.S. history.”

The proclamation confirms the truth about asbestos. Exposure to asbestos for as little as one month can result in mesothelioma 30 years later.  As the proclamation highlighted, it is also a serious concern for those first responders on 9/11.  It urges all citizens to take this opportunity to be aware of this disease and the need to develop effective treatments for it.

Protecting the victims is the true purpose of the proclamation.  Other cities have issued similar proclamations.  It is great that the city of Charleston now joins them.  I hope more West Virginia cities and towns join us.
